The Learning for Future Grant offers $3,500 per year (August 1 to July 31) to assist with additional education-related costs like textbooks, computers, and supplies. What can I use the Learning for Future Grant for?
The Learning for Future Grant is intended to be used for education-related costs not covered by the Provincial Tuition Waiver Program, such as textbooks, computers, supplies, etc.
How do I apply for and receive the Learning for Future Grant?
If you have already applied for and been approved for the Provincial Tuition Waiver Program and are registered in an eligible course, complete the Learning for Future Grant declaration form, and submit it to Okanagan college. If you are eligible, Okanagan college will issue the Learning for Future Grant disbursement to you.
If you have not applied for the Provincial Tuition Waiver Program and/or the Learning for Future Grant previously:
- Complete the application form: Fill out sections 1 and 3 of the Provincial Tuition Waiver Program and Learning for Future Grant application form.
- Submit the form: Bring the signed form to the Financial Aid office at Okanagan college.
- Verification: Okanagan college will send your application to StudentAid BC for eligibility verification.
- Receive your grant: If eligible, you’ll get the $3,500 grant.
When will I receive the money from my Learning for Future Grant?
Your Learning for Future Grant will be issued after your application is approved and/or the declaration form is signed. Okanagan college will verify your enrollment in eligible studies. The exact timeline for receiving funds will vary by post-secondary institution.
I was approved for the Provincial Tuition Waiver Program and the Learning for Future Grant in a previous program year. Do I need to reapply for the Learning for Future Grant again this year?
If you’ve already been approved for the Provincial Tuition Waiver Program and/or the Learning for Future Grant in a previous year (August 1 – July 31), you don’t need to submit a new application form.
Each year after your initial approval, just complete the Learning for Future Grant Declaration Form to receive your grant.
Is the Learning for Future Grant based on my financial need?
No, all students who meet the Learning for Future Grant eligibility criteria will receive the full $3,500 annual grant, regardless of their financial situation.
