Emergency response

Step 1: In case of a medical emergency, call 911 immediately

  • After calling 911, immediately contact Campus Security at 250-317-2435.  
    Security will direct emergency services upon arrival.
  • If you are a Trades & Apprenticeship student, notify your toolroom attendant or a trades shop support employee. They will administer first aid and contact Campus Security if further assistance is needed.
  • Other areas of the college may have designated first aid responders. Your program should review first aid protocols with you at the start of your course.
     

Non-emergency injuries

Step 2: Notify a first aid attendant

  • Call campus security at 250-317-2435.
  • A first aid attendant will assess your condition and provide appropriate care.
  • They will determine whether you can return to activity or need further medical assistance.

Step 3: Report the incident

  • The first aid attendant will submit a first aid report to the health and safety department.
  • You must notify your instructor(s) about the incident.
  • Report any absences or changes in abilities that may require modified activities.
